HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Apologies for the delay in posts. The end of 2014 was filled with a few bumps in the road. One of them was the computer decided to die and talking sweetly to it to bring it back to life took some time. This set off a series of things that just didn't get done. I am beginning 2015 working on recovering from the items that need attention from 2014. So it goes.
Winter is here and any added moisture is a treat! A good friend of mine sent me some homemade coconut sugar scrub for the holidays, which was a such a welcomed treat. Thank you, friend. I went through that quite quickly. I was anxious for more, so I made some.
I am sure there are a lot of varieties out there, but here is what I did.
Here is what you need:
- one part coconut oil
- one and half part sugar
- essential oils, or extract
- essential oil options: lime, peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus, clove
- extract options: vanilla, lemon, almond, lime, peppermint
- jar for storage
Melt the coconut oil until it's easy to mix. Add the sugar until it forms it's own clumps and begins to stick together. If you want it courser, add more sugar. If you want it creamier, add coconut oil. Then add your fragrance of choice. I used lime essential oil for my first batch. If you're making some for kiddos, use extract. This is especially helpful if you have kiddos who like to taste things.
Once you have all items mixed up, place in a jar for safe keeping.
I use about 1-2 Tablespoons per bath. I've also been keeping some by the sink to grab for a little to clean up. This is especially helpful when working on art, as the hand washing becomes a little obsessive (for me).
As the story goes, this is also great for gifts!
