While the kiddos were playing so beautifully in their room one day, I was greeted with head to toe decorative bodies in the form of drawings from markers. I'm sure we've all been there. I know as a child I did this with my mother's new lipstick all over my legs. It's fun to change things up, isn't it? This prompted this post to happen sooner than later. It's something I had been meaning to try and there is no time like the present.
You will need to following tools:
- container for storing solution
You will need the following ingredients:
- cocoa butter
- coconut oil
- homemade dye (click here for homemade dye post.)
- Add 1/2 Tablespoon of Cocoa powder to 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil. Heat up to the point where it will mix and blend fairly easily.
Add 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch to about 1 Tablespoon of Homemade Dye. If you want stronger color, add more dye. If you want it more opaque, add more cornstarch. Mix together. Depending on how hot you might have gotten your oils, you may need to wait a bit for things to cool down and join together.
Once the mixture cools it will be something like a lotion, or a body butter. Then this will be ready to use! What is nice about using this is that it moisturizes the body, while having fun. We have also used this to decorate the bathtub during bath time! The other bonus is that if you bought all your ingredients in the grocery area as opposed to the cosmetic area, it will be edible as well. This is something that is desirable if you have toddlers or children who like to taste their way through life's experiences!
As a reminder when using perishable ingredients, you may want to store in the fridge.
